It’s not too late — really it’s not
One of my favourite writers/podcasters, Seth Godin, sends me an email every day at 6 pm when it’s the perfect time for me to have a read. It might be a one-minute or a 10-minute read but it’s always insightful and sometimes philosophical with a little takeaway for life. I aspire to be that person but having written one of these only about three times last year, I have a long way to go.
Even during our short period of isolation/quarantine during April and May, I still managed to be distracted by life. I guess that’s not such a bad thing but if I or anyone wants to write, they should have a schedule and write. I wonder what people, you, my readers (if you are really out there and not just a figment of my imagination) want to read about? What moves you, inspires you? Without knowing this, we just have to get on with it and hope something resonates. This writing into the void can be very cathartic and freeing, and gets a writing practice going.
For some, the older they get, the more experienced and wise they become. And I do feel that. But there is a continual pull on the psyche that says, ‘Am I good enough?’ I think that stays with us and always will as life is such an evolving and emerging concept. You never stop evolving or learning until your final breath. The ones who know they don’t know it all, and never will, remain curious, observant and ever-questioning. Those who claim to know all with no need to learn new things, are not curious about others. We don’t know what we don’t know. That’s the key to curiosity and learning. We don’t know what we are capable of until we dip the toe in the water, or something extraordinary happens, or we create something that has an impact. It might take a long time to get there but it’s not too late.
